This dressing gown belonged to my mother. A bird from the original quilted design is embroidered with a variety of lurex and luminous threads. The works title comes from a Victorian child’s sampler quoted in The Subversive Stitch by Rozika Parker (The Women’s Press, 1984):
Sweet bird thy bower is evergreen
Thy sky is ever clear
Tho hath no sorrow in thy song
Nor winter in thy year
Exhibited on a chair designed by Robin Day.
Dundee Degree Show 2002, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, Dundee and Past Standing, The Changing Room, Stirling.
Purchased for Paisley Museum and Art Gallery by the National Collecting Scheme for Scotland.
