
Created in response to the gallery space the Art Deco influenced design suggests a frieze surrounding a stage; its pearlescent background and golden margins catching the spotlights. The title refers to the 1930’s Broadway production by the Federal Theatre famously closed down by authorities, fearful of public uprising in Depression era New York, due to the musicals critical and strongly socialist content.
