Referencing 17th century collections such as Ferrante Imperato’s, this work recreates a faux cabinet of curiosities on the ceiling of the gallery. Detailed watercolours sample the collections of several Scottish museums creating a trompe l’oeil of cut-out watercolours. Arranged between dado rails laid out in a crazy paving
pattern, the paintings are apparently grouped by theme. However the subject matters are often not what they seem, creating a clash of cultures and content.
