The chairs are based on two doll's house miniatures in the collection of the Museum of Childhood, Edinburgh; made by two local girl guides for a competition as part of the 75th Anniversary of Girl Guiding in 1985. The chairs are scaled-up to the height of the original Charles Rennie Macintosh high-backed chairs, yet faithfully copy the individualities of the miniatures. The design was the first of Macintosh's high-backed chairs, created for the Argyle Street Tea Rooms, Glasgow.
